I wanted a recent video sequence to look like a retro television programme, so added this VT clock (created using After Effects). Here’s a high-definition render. Just add your own text to the right hand side of this clip to make your next video production look like it was made for tv!
This kind of VT clock was prevalent in UK broadcasting during the 1980s, and was really only for video editors’ eyes only, to cue tapes and accurately time programme content around ad breaks. The occasional slip in timings gave the audience a behind-the-scenes glimpse of these technical graphics!
The IDENT segment was intended for an audio description of the upcoming video. The on-screen text would have included information such as :
Channel Name
Programme Title
Episode
Duration
Audio Layout
Date
Director
